Samsung recently launched its new set of flagship smartphones that marked the tenth edition of the Galaxy S series – Galaxy S10 phones. As expected, the smartphones came with new features and all, but one that’s worthy of note is the Wireless Powershare.

What is Wireless Powershare?
Wireless Powershare is the medium through which these Samsung Galaxy phones can charge other devices without wires (read: USB cables). Simply put, Wireless Powershare is reverse wireless charging for Samsung smartphones.
Wireless Powershare basically works the same way reverse wireless charging works. The only difference is the appellation and its uniqueness to Samsung Galaxy S10 phones.
How does it work?
Reverse Wireless Charging came to live with Huawei Mate 20 and Huawei Mate 20 Pro smartphones last year. The deal behind reverse wireless charging technology is that a phone is placed back-to-back with another device to share the battery capacity with it. As a result, the phone becomes a charging pad for the other device. That’s the same way Wireless Powershare works.
To utilize it, you can follow the following steps:
- Pull down the notification window.
- Tap on the Wireless Powershare icon to turn it on.
- Then, you’ll place another device on top of it. Right from that moment, it starts charging.
- To stop the charging, you can switch off the icon from the drop-down.
That said, once you separate the devices too, the charging stops immediately. Also, the devices must touch each other without any hindrance like phone casing or cover.
Devices Supported
At the moment, only the new Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphones carry this feature. The smartphones are Samsung Galaxy S10, Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus and the lower variant Samsung Galaxy S10E.
What kind of devices can be charged through Wireless Powershare?
Don’t get it twisted; not only smartphones can be charged with this technology. Bluetooth earbuds, smartwatches, and fitness bands are other types of devices that can be charged via this method. What makes these devices capable of being charged this way is the Qi Wireless Charging technology present.
Here is the list of phones that support wireless charging:
- Apple iPhone: 8, 8 Plus, X, XR, XS, XS MAX
- Samsung Galaxy: Note 9, S9, S9+, Note 8, S8, S8+
- Sony: Xperia XZ3, Xperia XZ2 Premium, Xperia XZ2
- LG: G7 ThinQ, V30, G6
- Nokia: 8 Sirocco
- Huawei: Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro
PS: No Qi Wireless Charging technology means no reverse wireless charging. Besides, if the battery level’s below 30%, Wireless Powershare won’t work.
