At its the Steve Jobs Theatre in Cupertino, California, Apple has finally unwrapped its brand new 2019 iPhones, and yes, they are dubbed the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. These iPhones are direct upgrades to last year’s iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max.
Table of Interests
iPhone 11 Specs and Features
The iPhone 11 is the successor to last year’s iPhone XR, and it carries the same 6.1-inch Liquid Retina LCD display. In terms of specs that Apple has announced, the iPhone 11 comes with the brand new A13 Bionic chipset.
The iPhone 11 also comes with a dual camera set-up this time around placed inside that wildly unpopular square camera module. There’s a 12MP + 12MP ultra-wide camera set up on the back, along with the flash here. Up front, there’s the same notch, with all the Face ID tech packed inside it, alongside the 12MP selfie shooter.
iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max Specs and Features
The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max are the successors to last year’s iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, and as such, they are the higher-end iPhone variants for the year. The iPhone 11 Pro comes with the same 5.8-inch OLED display as last year’s iPhone XS. The iPhone 11 Pro Max comes with a 6.5-inch OLED display, same as last year’s iPhone XS max.
The 2019 iPhones are powered by the new Apple A13 Bionic chipset, 8.5 billion transistors built on a 7nm process. The chipset is both faster and more power efficient than the A12. The 2 high performance CPU cores are 20% faster, 30% more efficient (there are also 4 power efficient cores). The GPU has a 4-core design that’s 20% faster and a whopping 40% more efficient.
The Neural Engine grows to 8 cores (20% faster, 15% more efficient) and is in charge of image processing features. Deep Fusion will be released as a software update – it’s Apple’s version of HDR+. It takes 4 photos before you press the shutter, 4 when you do and then 1 long exposure. Then it picks the best shots and fuses them together. There’s a separate Night mode as well.
On the back, there’s the same square camera module as the iPhone 11, but the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max come with a triple 12MP camera set-up (wide + telephoto + ultra-wide). Up front, there’s the same notch packing all the Face ID tech for unlocking your phone securely, alongside the 12MP selfie camera.
The iPhone 11 Pro models comes with a IP68 rating (up to 4m for 30 minutes) – that’s the most on any smartphone we’ve seen yet and twice as deep as the iPhone 11. Apple also launched a new brand of protective cases.
Also, what you might be most excited about, is that finally, Apple is bundling an 18W fast charger in the box. Â
