Xiaomi’s Redmi is set to refresh its entry-level A series with the coming of the Redmi A2. It will be the successor to the Redmi A1 smartphone, which was released last year. Thanks to WinFuture, we now have renders and key specs for the upcoming Redmi A2.
The Redmi A2 will be a slight improvement over its predecessor. The phone will be powered by the recently released Mediatek Helio G36 SoC. This 12 nm chip features an octa-core Arm Cortex-A53 CPU running at 2.2 GHz and an IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU. Given that the predecessor used a Helio A22 SoC, this should be a good upgrade.
The Redmi A2’s other specifications are very similar to those of the A1. It will feature a 6.52-inch HD+ LCD screen, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, an 8MP dual-rear camera, a 5MP front camera, a 5000mAh battery, and other features. Furthermore, the Redmi A2+ is expected to be released with more storage space.
